Building Collective Efficacy: What process did your school take in developing your School Growth Plan?

The goals in place for the 2024/25 year were at the end of a three-year cycle; staff feedback strongly indicated it was time for a change, and goals for September 2025 were developed collaboratively over four months.

Evidence indicated a need for higher standards of learning, increased student engagement and motivation, and a focus on Social Responsibility.

Student Success To provide many pathways for all students to pursue and achieve desired outcomes.

School Goal

Students, K-7, will demonstrate Social Responsibility by being regulated, active, caring and responsible members of our school community. We plan on measuring this by monitoring: Journal/Conduct tab entries, office visits, observations, MDI, EDI, and school surveys (increased feelings of safety and wellness).

Actions: What will we do to support all learners?

-Weekly SBT meetings to monitor priority students. -Available to students: individual counselling, safety planning, NOYFSS, CYMH, Coping tools/skills groups, Friendship groups, Emotional ABC’s, EASE, PADS, Everyday Speech, Preventure, Ease, Zones of Regulation, Character Strengths, PADS, Calming Stations, and Move Work Breath Stations. -Our entire staff is trained in Level One restitution. -We conduct targeted Social/Emotional intervention.

By mastering fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, students will become capable, self-assured learners motivated to achieve their full potential. We plan on measuring this by monitoring: -Increase in student confidence, numeracy screener rates, ELP, School-Wide Writes, FSA results, and observable skill transfer to other areas.

Actions: What will we do to support all learners?

-Learning intentions will be clearer and more visible. -Students will be held to a higher standard of achievement. -More opportunities for students to extend their learning.

Community Connections

School Goal

Lavington Elementary is a Community School; community connections and relationships are very important to how we conduct our day-to-day business. Lavington Elementary is host to a pre-school as well as an after school, school aged childcare program. Our school gym is booked 5 nights a week by the Lavington Community Association, and a variety of evening activities are available to people of all ages throughout the week.
